<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the cosplay I decided to do for Anime Bonzai. Check out the link for more details!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
http://animebanzai.org/</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I first started with the sword. I went to the dollar store and got a bunch of plain white foam board for a dollar each. I used about 12 foam boards to make the sword. I drew out my template, which took a while since I'm a TERRIBLE artist! I laid two foam boards end to end and duct taped them together. I drew and cut out my sword. I did 6 layers just like this, using my template to trace out my pattern. I hot glued each later together. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the result:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxvWqHb3MM0tXPfSKBBDkWDnGNk3eEpQohljWX_mqsOJZYKlIpyivb4tqFoOzqIzZFjRat_yAUwC-Q_RuNXCWqNurJro9jQ0rGecQoSWJNHyXWUoRn0BQP42LVzIIWbMn1EXM0dwBUu7vf/s1600/604093_528682240503780_674653259_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxvWqHb3MM0tXPfSKBBDkWDnGNk3eEpQohljWX_mqsOJZYKlIpyivb4tqFoOzqIzZFjRat_yAUwC-Q_RuNXCWqNurJro9jQ0rGecQoSWJNHyXWUoRn0BQP42LVzIIWbMn1EXM0dwBUu7vf/s320/604093_528682240503780_674653259_n.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then used my reference photo to carve out the shape of the sword so it didn't look so boxy. This process took a long time, but I'm a perfectionist and it had to be perfect!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the result:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM-G_LhxDDBbns8_x2MLo4K5GV-AM8bERHKatG6tJI_bcwzWOEbyOXYaqZeDDwRc4th9U4KAHdMPmHWOKCNxqMLx5J0Xa58RgYBJSk-A3gfpJAPaIVr-ocX9tpR42CkYHMcQfz_pWLH6ka/s1600/carved549076_529463490425655_1395914661_nca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM-G_LhxDDBbns8_x2MLo4K5GV-AM8bERHKatG6tJI_bcwzWOEbyOXYaqZeDDwRc4th9U4KAHdMPmHWOKCNxqMLx5J0Xa58RgYBJSk-A3gfpJAPaIVr-ocX9tpR42CkYHMcQfz_pWLH6ka/s320/carved549076_529463490425655_1395914661_nca.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I started the paper mache process. This was messy! I mixed water, flour and glue together until it was the consistency of runny pancake batter. I cut newspaper into 2 inch wide strips and dipped them into the mixture. I wiped off all the excess and laid the strips all over my sword. It took 2 days to cover the whole sword and for the newspaper to dry. The next step is sanding and then painting! I will update more once those are done!</div>
